Friday nights, occasional, October to May, in the Community Room. Details are advertised in the village newsletter and on posters in the village.
Gardening Group
We are a group of people interested in gardening, who meet approximately monthly for discussion of gardening topics. We also arrange visits to gardens and nurseries as well as visiting each others gardens.
Members of the group like to exchange plants and seeds and grow plants to sell at village Open Gardens and Fetes.
Midgley Growers
A small number of people formed 'Midgley Growers', now part of Midgley Gardening Group.
Having been unsuccessful in obtaining an allotment site in the village, they now grow and maintain plants (principally edible) in public areas in the village, which are then available for anyone to harvest and eat.
The main sites are tubs by Lydgate Well at the bottom of Tray Royd and the herb garden opposite, planters in the bus terminus and the 'rhubarb triangle' also at Tray Royd.
Join Us
All are welcome to join our number; there is no entrance fee or subscription, only a small charge made at meetings held in the Community Room to cover the hire of the room.
If you are interested in attending meetings or garden visits, please contact Eileen Furey on 01422 885284 or Andrew Sutcliffe on 01422 883388
You will be most welcome.
Incredible Edible Midgley
The group aims to bring the community together through growing and sharing vegetables and herbs throughout the village. As well as an established herb bed opposite Lydgate Well, the group plants and maintains a number of herb and vegetable planters.
Produce can be picked by anyone once it's ready for harvesting, and it's all free – although the group appreciates donations to cover costs in the Incredible Edible box in the shop.
Craft and Coffee
We meet monthly on a Tuesday in the Community Room in Midgley.
See the Calendar page for details of upcoming dates, or get in touch (see below).
An informal gathering of experts and novices in all sorts of knitting, arts and crafting skills. We learn new skills from each other as we chat about 'all sorts of things'.
Refreshments are provided and make a small donation to community funds.
All ages and abilities are welcome.
